IPO Portfolio Allocation Planner

When several IPOs are open around the same time, splitting a fixed budget across them well beats piling everything into one. Add each IPO you're considering with its lot value and desired lots, and see the total cost, remaining budget and an equal-split suggestion.

How the IPO Portfolio Allocation Planner works

This planner does one thing: arithmetic. Total cost for an IPO is lot value × number of lots, summed across every IPO you add. It flags when your total crosses your stated budget and offers a quick equal-splitstarting point — dividing your budget evenly across the IPOs you've listed and rounding down to whole lots for each.

This is a planning aid, not a diversification recommendation — how much to put into any single IPO depends on your own view of that specific issue's fundamentals, valuation and risk, which this tool doesn't assess. The IPO Data Snapshot (subscription, GMP, issue structure) and the valuation calculators give you the data for that before you decide lot counts here. The ₹2 lakh SEBI retail cap still applies per IPO individually — check the Retail Limit Calculatorif any single IPO's allocation is close to that ceiling.

Disclaimer: This calculator is for educational purposes only and does not constitute investment advice. Always read the Red Herring Prospectus and verify current rates before applying for any IPO.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the equal-split suggestion work?
It divides your total budget evenly by the number of IPOs you've added, then converts each IPO's share into whole lots (rounded down) based on that IPO's lot value. It's a starting point, not a recommendation — edit any row afterward.
Does this account for the ₹2 lakh retail investment cap?
No — that cap applies per IPO application, not to your total portfolio. If any single IPO's allocation here approaches ₹2 lakh, check the Min & Max Retail Investment Calculator for that specific issue.
Should I split my budget equally across all IPOs?
Not necessarily — equal split is a neutral starting point when you have no stronger view. Many investors weight allocation by conviction (fundamentals, GMP, subscription demand) rather than splitting evenly; this tool supports either approach since every row is independently editable.
Can I plan for IPOs I haven't decided lot counts for yet?
Yes — add a row with a lot value of 0 or any lots figure as a placeholder; it won't affect your other rows' totals until you fill in real numbers.
Does this tool check my odds of allotment?
No — this only plans budget allocation across applications. Use the Allotment Probability Calculator separately to estimate your chances for any specific IPO based on its subscription level.
