IPO Application Amount Calculator

Work out exactly how much money gets blocked in your account for an IPO application — enter the price band and lot size from the RHP, pick how many lots you want to apply for, and see the amount at both the lower and upper price band.

See currently open IPOs, check the lot size calculator for your budget, or use the allotment probability calculator.

How the IPO Application Amount Calculator works

An IPO's application amount is simply number of lots × lot size × price per share. Because retail investors bid within a price band rather than at a fixed price, the exact amount blocked depends on which price in the band you (or your broker's default cut-off bid) end up paying — so this calculator shows the amount at both ends of the band.

Under the ASBA/UPI mandate process, the full amount for your bid is blocked in your bank account (not debited) the moment you apply, and is only debited if you receive allotment. If you don't get allotted, or if the final price is lower than what you bid, the blocked amount (or the difference) is released automatically — see our allotment calculator for how likely that is at a given subscription level.

SEBI caps a single retail application at ₹2,00,000 — if your calculated amount at the upper band exceeds that, you're bidding as a non-institutional (HNI) investor instead, which changes the funding math; see the HNI funding cost calculator for that case.
