How the Min & Max IPO Retail Investment Calculator works
The minimum retail investment in any IPO is exactly one lot, valued at the price you bid (most retail investors bid at the cut-off/upper price band). The maximum retail investment is capped by SEBI at ₹2,00,000 per PAN, per application — so the calculator finds the largest whole number of lots whose total value stays at or under that cap.
If one lot alone already costs more than ₹2,00,000 (common for higher-priced IPOs with a large lot size), retail investors cannot apply at all in the retail category for that issue — bidding then requires moving to the sNII (non-institutional) category instead, see our HNI break-even calculator.
