How the IPO UPI Mandate & Blocked Amount Calculator works

When you submit an IPO bid via UPI/ASBA, your broker sends a mandate (collect) request to your UPI app for bid price × lot size × number of lots. This is a block/lien on your bank balance, not a debit — the money stays in your account and only moves out if you're allotted shares.

Two separate deadlines apply on the issue's closing day: your broker/bank must submit the bid by 4:00 PM, and you must approve the UPI mandate request by 5:00 PM. Many brokers set an earlier internal cut-off to leave buffer before the 5 PM SEBI deadline, so don't wait until the last minute — a mandate approved late is auto-rejected with no exceptions.
