How the IPO Issue Size Calculator works
Total issue size is the broadest, most consistently disclosed number for an IPO — it's split into two very different components: Fresh Issue (new shares the company issues, raising new money that goes onto its own balance sheet) and Offer for Sale (OFS) (existing shares that current shareholders — promoters, PE/VC investors — sell to the public; that money goes to them, not the company).
Neither a large Fresh Issue nor a large OFS is automatically good or bad — a large Fresh Issue means the company is raising real growth capital, while a large OFS often means early investors or promoters are partially exiting, which is a completely normal and expected part of an IPO, not necessarily a red flag on its own.
The Fresh Issue and OFS split isn't disclosed for every IPO in our data — when it's missing, this calculator still shows the total issue size, which is available for far more IPOs.
