Anchor Investor Lock-in Date Calculator
Enter an IPO's anchor allotment date to see exactly when anchor investors' shares unlock — half after 30 days, the rest after 90 days, per SEBI's staggered anchor lock-in rule. Useful for anticipating anchor-driven selling pressure around those dates, not for tracking your own retail allotment.
50% Unlocks
31 Jan 2026
30 days from anchor allotment — half of the anchor investors' allotted shares become free to sell.
Remaining 50% Unlocks
01 Apr 2026
90 days from anchor allotment
These are calendar days, not trading days. This rule applies only to the anchor investor (QIB) category — retail investors have no lock-in at all and can sell from listing day. Knowing these dates helps you anticipate anchor-driven supply on the stock, not track your own shares.
How the Anchor Investor Lock-in Date Calculator works
An anchor investor is a large Qualified Institutional Buyer (QIB) — a mutual fund, insurance company or similar — allotted shares one trading day before an IPO opens for the general public, at a fixed price, partly to build market confidence in the issue ahead of the public bidding window.
Per SEBI ICDR Regulations, anchor investor shares are locked in on a staggered schedule: 50% for 30 days from the date of allotment, and the remaining 50% for 90 days from the date of allotment. Splitting the lock-in this way avoids a single cliff-edge date where all anchor shares become sellable at once, which could otherwise create a sudden supply shock in the stock.
This rule applies only to the anchor investor category — it has no effect on retail, NII or regular QIB allottees, none of whom have any lock-in and can sell from the day of listing. Tracking these dates matters for understanding potential selling pressure on a stock around its 30-day and 90-day marks, not for your own holdings unless you were yourself an anchor investor.
